Holy FriendConnect, Batman!!!
So, I'm a dweeb. I stayed up late after tandomly jumping on Robert Scoble's livecast of the Google Campfire to find out the scoop on FriendConnect and get a chance to play with it a bit.
I have to say, I'm pretty impressed with how easy it is to use so far. I mean, I really didn't have to do much because I was already logged into Google, I just had to select what I wanted my nickname to be, etc. and then fire away accordingly.
Of course, you know me, the internet. I only jumped on board because I wanted to check it out and see what this could mean for my precious little rock bands that I hold so near and dear to my heart, so I made sure to check out the feature that they
integrated on Ingrid Michaelson's website (btw, I don't like her). Low and behold! It made me feel like I was not only a part of ol' Ingrid's site, but I really feel like people are going to have a stronger sense of community when they visit a bands website. Since the dawn of MySpace, I have done nothing but scratched my head as to how one could go about setting the bands offical website apart from their MySpace profile. By golly, if this isn't it, I don't know what is!! Your fans don't have to work any harder than clicking OK to what info they want shared on the site. They can comment and do whatever interactions Google might offer to the masses, all the while this information can be sent back to Facebook or whatever social networking profile that they're getting your information from so that you're still a part of that community as well.
COMMUNITY BUILDING IS ESSENTIAL TO MAKING AN ARTIST HAVE A CAREER THESE DAYS!!! Remember that whole "it takes a village" thing? THIS IS YOUR CHANCE TO BUILD A VILLAGE OF YOUR VERY OWN, ARTISTS!!! Don't let anyone tell you otherwise.
Once I get my hands on one of those beta invites I can show you HOW EASY THIS IS TO DO! And if you don't think it's easy to do than you can just ask me and I will be more than happy to show you or instruct your web designer what to do with all these fun codes and things.
I really hope everyone chooses to jump on board and be a part of this. Of course, I can't help but think about what someone said in the chatroom during Scoble's cast about how this is Google's way of luring all the social networks in before they gobble them up. I hope that's not the case. I hope competition continues to thrive and therefore people become more creative and we have more exciting things come down the pike, but who knows what could happen these days, seriously.
I'm really anxious to see what kind of status feeds that Google will send to my Facebook profile (as I made sure to opt into that so I could see how it interacts with your social networking profile for times when you're just posting comments on other people's walls, etc). I haven't seen anything yet...and believe me, I have been frantically checking my Mini-Feed to see if it says anything awesome in there. Guess I just have to be patient. Hmph.
Feel free to comment/argue with me on this. I'm curious to see what everyone else has to say so far.
My friend Morgan (@morganplex) just brought up a good question : will site owners be able to own data? i.e. email signups and stuff for the users using their sites?
Not sure about that yet. Gonna have to investigate more, but that will have to wait until tomorrow once I've rested a bit.

I Love Livin' In The City
I might have it kinda rough here every now and then, but overall, I really love living here. I just needed to make sure that was out there for you to read, the internet.
Last night was GOLDFRAPP!! I gotta tell yah, I wish she wasn't sick so we could have talked her into doing more songs.
It just felt like such a short set for such a big venue. Ol' Allison Goldfrapp made ALL the gays just go insane! It was pretty hilarious to watch, actually. Made me think of the last time I was at Beacon Theatre. I was there with Amanda for Brian Wilson. All the old people in the audience were going totally crazy for Brian. They were like waving their canes and stuff in the air. I couldn't help but giggle in delight at how happy everyone seemed to be there. Last night was no exception to that feeling. I think had Goldfrapp been in a different venue I would have had a different kind of mood about the whole thing. It's just the whole deal with having assigned seats for an artist like that really sucks. It makes it hard for you to want to get up and dance around. Or at least it was awkward for me anyways.
Oh, by the way. This was the only photo that I got from Goldfrapp. This is because Clint left my camera in his truck for over a month and let it roll around until he took the time to find it and get it out. After FINALLY getting it back from him I discovered that the zoom no longer works on my camera. So RIP "Troubleshooter", as Marie so cleverly named it. Now I'm in the market for a new digi cam, so if you have suggestions please let me know.
Moving on....
I also have to share these photos with you from a few days ago.
I really find myself taking pictures of graffiti that I like a lot these days. And the subway sign about the L train crapness over the weekend was just too funny to not make documentation of.
Band Marino is in town again! Let the world rejoice!!!
They're playing at The Annex tomorrow night at 8pm. Everyone on the planet should come out and dance with me!
Gah. Back to work.

I always kick myself for that time that I didn't stay in Nashville for spring break with Mary cause we were supposed to go together. Of course something extra amazing happened: ELTON JOHN came out for the encore that night. UGH!!!
So yeah, I CAN'T let that happen again. I just simply can't.
And anyone who stands in my way will be crushed. Hehe. Sorta.

Are you ready!?
Admit it, you found yourself laughing.
This is what my friend Kate had to say about that video:
"I'm going to kill myself and leave an mp3 player around my neck with only this song loaded on it and let the detectives figure it out"
Hahahaha. I don't think it's THAT bad, per say.
