[Possibly] The Last Film David Carradine Ever Did... And It Starred Jimmy Gnecco

Jimmy&David5 by Ours Photos.

As somewhat of a superfan of Ours, I do what I can to keep tabs on what Jimmy Gnecco is up to in hopes of catching him again live. I swear to you, watching this guy sing so hard that he looks like he's about to snap in half in incredible.

Anyways, the day that the world got word about the death of David Carradine, Gnecco posted a blog mourning the loss of Carradine, which included photos of the two of them from their upcoming short film.

Short film?

Yes.

The film is called 8 For Infinity. It was written and directed by Michael Maxxis, a native of Canada. Plot line is kind of vague from what I've gathered. The film is about a musician (Gnecco) who locks himself in a cabin as he struggles with the concept of selling out, during which time the devil (Carradine) tries to tempt him. According to Radar, Carradine said that “The whole film is about death, dealing with things in your life before death.”

Hmm.

So how did some 26 year old with a pretty decent portfolio get a guy like Carradine to be in this film? Apparently the devil role wasn't created until after Carradine asked for a script!! The story goes that the two met after a screening of another short film of Maxxis' called Steak and Milk, which was screened at the Beverly Hills Film Festival. They discussed 8 For Infinity over drinks and the next day Carradine hit him up for a script.

A few days ago someone from the Ours camp posted an outtake from the film on YouTube:

Not a whole lot to make any sort of real judgement call, but I like how already I get this really dark feeling from it.

So yeah, they apparently shot the film in late April/early May in Edmonton at venues Prohibition and Nordegg. Not really sure how long it should take to shoot for an 8 minute movie, so my guess is that it's done?

Regardless, you need to check out this Michael Maxxis guy. He's shot a TON of music videos and the ones I've seen are stellar. He's done a few music videos for Ours, be sure to check out "Worst Things Beautiful" and "Live Again & God Only Wants You" videos. He's a pretty wicked photographer, too. Peep this photo he shot of Ours:

Yeahhhh. I like! Pretty sure we're going to continue to see more of this Maxxis guy.

Kinda anxious to find out when this film is going to be released. There's like NOTHING on it at all. I'm surprised I found out this much. I might try to reach out to a few people that know Jimmy Gnecco to see if they can get anything out of him. We shall see!

[A shout out to Tricky Buddha for a good headstart on my journey of discovery for this!]
